Tonight we focused on acoustic guitar tracks using a beautiful Collings dreadnought on loan from the personal collection of Dave Barber. Dave’s arsenals of pedals, amps and instruments are going to be a huge part of making this CD sound great so I think a golf clap is in order… For the best possible tone we could get the guitar was strung with .013′s, and I thought that was going to be an issue for an inexperienced player like myself, but fatigue was minimal – as were my screw-ups – and the evening was very productive.

After tinkering for a bit as Ronni dialed in the sound he was looking for we tracked “The Real World”, “Goodbye Song”, and “Daydream” and I left the sessions wondering exactly how I could hide the purchase of a Collings from my wife. The only solutions I came up with weren’t legal so I’ll just have to borrow Dave’s for the time being.
