Stay In Bed

Stay In Bed

Sometimes the charmed life isn’t so charming
It’s just another way to survive
Actors making their way around a dimly lit stage
Waiting for the script to arrive

We’ve all got our problems, our struggles and faults
We’re liars if we say we don’t
And so we do the best that we can in hopes our ship will come in
All the while expecting it won’t

All you want to do is stay in bed
Bottle on the nightstand, trembling hands
And the covers pulled over your head
As your sanity hangs by a thread
A handful of pills and unpaid bills
And a head full of things you should’ve said
Now all you want to do is stay in bed

The greenest grass resides on the other side
Or so everyone thinks from their point of view
So we bide our time lying in wait, wading in lies
Hoping for one thing that’s true

But the truth isn’t always what you want to hear
Even as it sinks in like a knife
Everything blurs but one thing is clear
You’ve got no control of your life

All you want to do is stay in bed
Empty bottle on the floor, a wish for something more
And the covers pulled over your head
As your sanity hangs by a thread
The pills put you to sleep but not so deep
That you forget all of the things you should’ve said
And all you want to do is stay in bed
