Forces Of Nature

Forces Of Nature

The cold sting of rain on my face
A static charge in the air
Clouds blacker than night roll in and blot out the sky
Winds swirl from all directions
Spinning me around like a top
Out of the madness a moment of calm arrives

And the heart that beats inside this chest
The very same heart that you now possess
Beats to a rhythm that you don’t seem to hear
And the blood that flows all through these veins
The very same blood I’d spill to spare you pain
Courses through me like a flood when you are near

When you are near
The forces of nature collide
Elegant violence on display
Equal parts wonder and dismay
There is nowhere to run and hide
When the forces of nature collide

A deluge breaks free from above
Electricity strobes through the dark
There are no stars by which to find the way home
And just when everything seems lost
All at once the winds recede
A break from the chaos in the eye of the storm

And the heart that beats inside this chest
The very same heart that you now possess
Beats to a rhythm that you don’t seem to hear
And the blood that flows all through these veins
The very same blood I’d spill to spare you pain
Courses through me like a flood when you are near

When you are near
The forces of nature collide
Truly a sight to behold
Powers that cannot be controlled
There is nowhere to run and hide
When the forces of nature collide
