Blue Skies

Blue Skies

You take the blue skies with you when you go
The clouds set in the rain begins to fall
And I don’t want to go outside at all

You take the blue skies with you when you leave
The cold downpour offers no reprieve
A wall of grey as far as my eyes can see

Crimson red
Emerald green
The colors wash away
And I can’t paint a pretty picture
As the colors fade

You took the sunrise with you when you left
Endless darkness loneliness regret
And no stars to count to pass the time
Or help me to forget

Cerulean blue
Sunshine gold
The colors in my mind
The canvas tells a different story
Painted over in white

You took the blue skies with you
Now you’re gone
